(Anonymous) 2016-01-24 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)Eh? There's never been a time when all writers gracefully accepted criticism, so acting like this is a new development sound a bit... well, "old man yelling at clouds". There'll always be writers who do not want concrit or are sensitive to conrit. There'll always be writers who are fine with it.
Of course, if you're just telling people their writing is crap, that's not constructive, it's just an insult. It could be it's not that people are unaccepting of critiques, but that you're alienating people by being unnecessarily rude.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-24 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)For example, a few weeks ago one of my friends made a calm rational post about how she wishes JK Rowling could of done better with the lgbt representation in her Potter books.
Que a crapton of JK stans appearing out of nowhere and spitting venom about how my friend needs to stop, "forcing her ideas on Rowling" and needs to, "stop bullying JK and leave her alone" and my favorite, "you have no right to criticize a famous author because you're probably a shitty one yourself!"
Lmao seriously. And this hasn't even been the first time I've seen something like this.
When people complain about "not being able to tell someone their writing crap." They're probably not just referring to the author. Hardcore book fans can be pretty nasty if someone questions or critiques one of their faves imo.
