Metroid/Castlevania style games for Vita

I also have a PC, but its specs are pretty poor, so anything more advanced than Cave Story probably isn't an option for that platform.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the Axiom Verge Vita release, so you might as well get the PC version. I don't see it being a tremendous drain on your system.

It's certainly the most Metroidy of the Metroidvania games I've played over the years.

I specifically checked Axiom Verge with Can You Run It. My computer sucks too much.
