I believe the creators of Adventure Time & Legend of Korra said similar things, that they weren't allowed to have as much gay content as they'd like because of the international markets and it's true here too, there was a dance scene between Rose and Pearl that was censored in the UK.

The UK broadcast was also shown in various European and Middle Eastern countries - it was censored for them, not the UK.
