What are your favorites, and why?

Re: Flowers

(Anonymous) 2016-01-27 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Daffodils and lillies.

No reason I just like how they look.

Daisies make me happy. They also pair well with my collection of Coke bottles.

Daffodils because they are dependable and come back every year.

I'm not sure what my favorite in terms of looks is but my first thought is always that I love the scent of roses.

Daffodils- I like that they bloom early, and seem bright and cheerful after the gloominess of late winter.

Hyacinths- smell nice.

Wisteria- I like how it looks growing on houses and walls.

Roses and sunflowers. 'Cause they're pretty.

I love purple lilacs for their colour, shape and scent.

Lilies. They're bold, colorful, vibrant, and lush. I associate them with early summer growing up. I also adore pansies, as they're one of the first things that get planted every spring and they add so much color to an otherwise still-fairly-gloomy time of the year; I love the variety too, and how in big landscaping projects you can plant them in patterns.

Other than that...can I say all of them? I really love flowers. <3

(Some notables - tulips, hydrangeas, zinnias, daylilies, and orchids)

Peonies, maybe because they have a neat name and kind of smell like death. It's peculiar, that's for certain.

Last Valentine's I confided in a close friend that nobody'd ever bought me flowers, and that this made me sad despite always making sure to tell people I don't need any. Apparently this wouldn't do, so she drew me a blue flower on a purple background in mspaint. It's my favorite flower and still my wallpaper.

As for the real deal, roses and orchids, but orchids take a lot of work so I stick to the fake ones.

Roses, because I am unoriginal.

Lilies, because they are the flower of my birth month and I love me and by extension, them.

Dandelions. They're viewed as weeds, but they're pretty. I like the dichotomy.

Jasmine, magnolias, lilacs. Fragrance over form.

Orange day lilies.
Also, in no particular order, roses, lilacs, forsythias, gerbera daisies, lavender, clover, heather, cherry blossoms, and violets.
Honorable mention to edible squash blossoms.

Poppies and Violets, mostly for fandom associations plus purple is my favourite colour, and I like red as well.

I love calla lilies because they're so simple and understated but really pretty.

I love lilacs for their sweet scent, we used to have lilac bushes when I was growing up and I loved when they bloomed, same with hyacinths.

I like pansies because certain varieties look like they're smiling and my grandmother used to tell me that and so every time I see them, I think of her.

I worked in a garden center so I really love lots of flowers.

Carnations because I love the way the petals look.

Daffodils and narcissus, peonies, roses, lillies of the valley, wisteria, magnolias (I especially love the scent of magnolias), lemon and orange blossoms, plumeria. They are all beautiful flowers that smell nice, but I also like bluebells, red clover, California poppies, and yellow sorrel, those don't have any/as strong a scent but are lovely to see, especially in a big field on a sunny day. I went to a botanical gardens and saw a corpse flower in bloom, smelled like stinky garbage but was so damned impressive!!! I guess I would say that I like the visual and olfactory aspects of flowers, but how they make me feel is also a very big part of why my faves are my faves.

I'm partial to lilies, myself. There's lot of different kinds. I also like succulents/cacti.

For nostalgia reasons, I like the flowers we had in our backyard when I was a kid-- trumpet honeysuckle, hollyhocks, nasturtiums, hibiscus, pansies and heartsease, CA poppies, and magnolia flowers.

Anything I like the smell of, so clove pinks and carnations, violets, roses, some daffodils but not paperwhites because they smell like BO, lilies, jasmine, gardenia, passion flowers, citrus flowers... but I'm not a big fan of roses, lilies, or daffodils without scent.
