RHPS is an iconic film for the gay community so let's make it hetero so Tumblr can drool over it and celebrate their open mindness without it really being gay.

I actually think that's why the overwhelming majority of trans headcanons exist - people want their het sex without getting called homophobes, so instead of genderbending one part of a gay ship, they turn one of them trans so "it's totally still gay, guys", just with a heteronormative genitalia setup.
