Issue-fic
(Anonymous) 2016-01-28 12:23 am (UTC)(link)Mine was that famous one where one of the characters pauses in the middle of the fic to explain to another what a demisexual is.
Re: Issue-fic
I back buttoned out because it was so weird.

They'd probably need to have an exception made for them if they wanted to use a broom or a flying carpet to get around instead. There's no way kids are allowed to fly broomsticks through the halls to classes. But I could see where a lot of people wouldn't want to switch to those in the first place.

I tend to avoid issue fics, so I haven't seen any of the particularly bad ones.
Oh, and once, in an otherwise good fic, Hermione gave a lecture on the idea that a woman not taking her husbands name just didn't love him enough.
Re: Issue-fic
Protagonist introduces himself and goes into a chapter-long rant about unfair divorce laws. Two chapters later, he's complaining about the tax code.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-28 07:44 am (UTC)(link)I wholeheartedly agree that Steve Rogers would have progressive leanings, but JFC he's still a white dude who grew up in the 1940s. It's absurd to think he's instantly going to have a highly nuanced understanding of issues regarding race, gender, sexuality, etc, especially given how much has happened since the 1940s regarding those topics.
Re: Issue-fic
(Anonymous) 2016-01-28 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)He might well want the Scouts to be more inclusive, but he'd frame it in terms of a good organization not doing all the good it can do, and he would shit square nickels when the current tax structure was outlined for him, naturally, but goddamn.
