I think that a lot of Americans should stay out of a lot of discussions about international conflicts, because they invariably know less about it than they think.

In fairness, you could make that argument for any nation. Every country's history and economics and people will be different. Sometimes those differences are even huge within one country.

You could, but the US presence online is very pervasive, and they tend to dominate English-language internet spaces.
Also this thread is about Americans.

This. I get so tired of the partitioning of the world into 1) Americans and 2) Non-Americans, and the assumption that if something applies to Americans then the opposite is true on an equal basis for all non-Americans. Non-Americans are just as ignorant of issues that do not directly affect them as Americans are.
