LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
...Okay, I think it's time to stop. This acronym is getting too long.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
... Frankly, that is ridiculous. I also get a bit lost after the LGBTQ part of that.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like QUILTBAG. It's easy to remember, and is also an actual word.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
It sounds like you need a certain number of fat quarters in order to qualify.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Does it have to be fat quarters, or will a few jelly rolls suffice?
;)

I personally think it's a bit odd to have sexual orientation and gender identity in the same acronym even in the solid "LGBT". Not that I don't think it's cool these two issues work together or that they aren't related in a lot of ways (by questioning gender norms, and plus I suppose most trans people have to deal with identifying their sexual orientation as well). But it's still such a prevalent stereotype in a lot of areas that gay men are actually trans men, and in the end, they really are separate issues... but I digress.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, also when you group together certain groups get ignored for others

"oh it's an LGBT event" when they really mean it's an event that caters to gay people but others can come if they want

my favorite is like, book and movie categories.

"lgbt romance"

so...it's a romance between a lesbian and a bisexual trans gay man? ...uh

It's because trans people have always been a part of the gay community in Western culture, often facing the same stigmas and discrimination.

I have a fondness for QUILTBAG myself.

Pretty soon I'm just going to say LGBT A to Z, just to cover all my bases.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
I propose a sexual acronym, gender issues should have their own group, they don't belong here. So

LGB

Pansexual is a meme sexuality and I refuse to include it and asexuals aren't oppressed, they don't need to be part of the group.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I agree about asexuals not being oppressed, but tbqh I wouldn't mind if they were included. Putting aside the controversy of heteromantic asexuals claiming to be queer (skeeeeevy), I think there's a legitimate argument to made for the inclusion of aromantic asexual people (and of course, homoromantic/biromantic asexuals, but that goes without saying).

On the other hand, demisexuals wanting in on the acronym can jump off a bridge.

But that's silly, silly anon. LGBT shit has included allies and feminists since ...forever. Since it began. To say it's purely about sexuality is historically and factually incorrect.

Fuck you. FUCK YOU AND YOUR FUCKING ASEXUAL ERASURE. I HOPE EVERY ONE OF YOU KNOWS YOU'RE A SHITTY PERSON AND YOU SHOULD ALL REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE HUMAN SPECIES.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuck you, you aren't fucking treated like you're broken because you have no sex drive. You aren't raped to try to "fix" your asexuality.

Before you say Asexuals aren't oppressed, go fucking educate yourself

And if you still say we aren't oppressed, please, kindly, go to hell, at least you're not treated like you're fucking broken, even by FRIENDS who think that "hey I have to make you normal because I'm hyperfuckingsexual"

Which is why I stick to "queer"

I prefer LGBTI myself. Not fussed about LGBT as the umbrella.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
GRSM (Gender, Romantic, and Sexual Minorities) is my favourite, but most people don't know what the heck it is so I typically use Queer. I wish GRSM was more popular though, it covers everything and is nice and easy to say.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
For the record, I identify as one of those letters further down the chain, and personally, I would not be offended in the least if LGBT people decided to just stick with LGBT. In fact, if we all had a vote, I'd vote for it just to be LGBT. (Not that the others shouldn't be considered at least peripherally part of the group, I just don't think we need those extra letters to constantly denote our existence as part of the group.) But YMMV.

Re: LGBTQQIP2SAA

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's not "Time to stop" anything, but I do take your meaning.

It seems like LGBTQQIP2SAA could just as easily be spelled OTHER

Seriously, it seems like the whole point of this is just to make "Not 100% straight white cis or male" an acceptable identity so why bother doing this piece-meal? Why not just take the word that has always covered "every identity other than straight white cis male" and stick with it? It's easy to remember, it allows everyone who's not a straight white cis male to be included without constant re-writes every time we become aware of a new group we've been ignoring. It seems like it would save time energy and outrage.
