I'm English but do not mind being called British. In no way is it associated with being racist. We are incidentally still members of The British Commonwealth and it was through that fact, long before we joined the EU that many of our immigrants planted the seeds of multiculturalism as they had British passports. As for the UK it comprises England, Northern Ireland and Scotland though the latter looks set for complete devolution such as Wales has done.

Wales is still a constituent part of the United Kingdom, fyi.

Um, both the United Kingdom and Great Britain both absolutely still exist, regardless of whether or not you like being called British.

The UK is not the same thing as Great Britain. Great Britain is the island that Scotland, England, and Wales are located on.

Northern Ireland is not on that island but on the island of Ireland. It is, however, part of the UK. That's why they call it "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".

Yeah, sorry about that; it was late, I went to the wikipedia article to make sure that it was at least generally in the present tense, saw "united kingdom of great britain..." and managed to completely ignore the "and".
