What fandom are you in where this is "the norm". Like...1-2 fics is not really the norm. Even in fandoms where is sort of justifiable (Teen Wolf) A/B/O fics are not the majority. In TW the tag for ABO is only like 1300 out of 71000 fics.

And what the heck is your fandom that the norm for ABO fic includes guys missing periods or peeing on each other? I've seen more fics that involve watersports without ABO than with.

Yeah, I read A/b/o in one fandom when it crops up, and I've never come across male periods or peeing on each other.

To be fair, Teen Wolf fic can share a lot of abo!verse tropes without actually being abo!fic. If the OP considers anything with knotting, heats, or possessive alpha behavior to be abo!fic, then that field would get a lot wider.

Knotting still has less than 2000 tagged fic and it is usually tagged. It is also the most common ABO trope (and most likely to be a kink of its own).
