Oh, wow. Not a fan of the guy's politics at all, but still, rather unexpected.

To be fair he was 79, so not entirely surprising.

For people born when he was born, the average lifespan is under 80, so it isn't young, either. I wasn't expecting it to happen but it's not a big shock or anything.

It certainly is old to a lot of Americans who died young because of his politics and rulings. His sort has regressed Middle America and the Sub-Middle Class into living in conditions we haven't seen since the pioneer days. Turns out the pioneer days were not as sanitized as Dr Quinn or Little House made them look. Lotta good people died much younger than that fat sack of Republican shit.

It's pretty fucking old, and he was a fat Italian dude, so not exactly in the peak of health.

Yeah, they aren't as healthy as white people. Before you start bitching, it was within his lifespan that Italians were considered not white. And that was the time he was trying to roll America back to.

What is the reason for them not being healthy? Is it the food? Because afaik we pretty much all eat the same crappy food.

It is mostly a lifestyle thing, yeah. I mean traditional Italian food (particularly north Italian food) in childhood is a big part loading a metabolism with a pre-prepared expectation of lots of carbs and meat fats, but the traditional Italian lifestyle in the whole is not healthy. Especially with the high-expressed emotion behaviors which are major stressors. You can't really put it down as one thing, it is a parcel deal.

Wrong. Italians are healthier than most of Europe at least.

Oh, yeah, this is true. Just that given how long a lot of people who work in the government seem to live, it sometimes feels like you'd expect them to live a really long time. Wasn't Strom Thurmond, like, 100 or something when he passed away?
