Good, Obama can replace him with a radical left winger, and then we won't need to elect Hillary to replace RBG. Not that Hillary would put a left wing judge in place of her, nor even a pro-abortion justice since she couldn't even bring herself to to say the word abortion when the question was put to her.

The reports I read just say Republicans have vowed to veto anyone Obama nominates, not that Obama has said he won't nominate.

It's not a question of what Obama wants; it's whether he can (1) convince Mitch McConnell to put it on the agenda (2) convince Lindsey Graham to vote for a suitably qualified liberal judge (3) convince Lamar Alexander, Susan Collins, Lindsey Graham, and some magical fourth Republican to vote for a suitably qualified liberal judge.

Also, Hillary Clinton would 1000% appoint someone who would uphold Roe. Any Democratic President would do so. Please don't be insane.

Hillary is so focused on getting to be president, and then keeping being president that she'll trade anything away. She refused to even talk about abortion or to support in the last debate. If she thinks she has to dump an anti-abortion justice into SCOTUS to keep the Republicans sweet then she will. Hillary Clinton is the perfect example of a self-serving machine politician. Her campaign is based on telling everyone she'll do anything to get into office and anything to keep it, and that she is proud of being the machine. She will not defend RvW if it is more politically advantageous not to, and it will be with all the potential impeachment possibilities she'll have to buy off. Vote Clinton and you'll get a pro-corporate anti-abortioner because that is who she'll be owing to.

It's sad that he died, but it's good that he's gone, if that makes sense. The gone part could have been from dying or retiring, it just so happened that he died before he retired.

McConnell just said that he won't bring it to a vote till there's a new President, so I guess that answers that.

Hopefully the Democrats can get some people on the record and use it as a stick to beat people with, because there's certainly no constitutional justification for that position.

My thought is that this makes the presidential election even more important because Republicans have already said they will veto anyone Obama nominates.

I was actually going to post a thread about this. Only I'm so tired and stressed I forgot it was Saturday and the post would be up earlier.

I told mom earlier tonight that regardless of one's ideology or who ultimately wins the ribbon in November, this has been one hell of an entertaining election. Scary, in its way, but entertaining as hell.

My first reaction when I heard he'd been on a hunting trip was to wonder if Dick Cheney was along.
