Falling in love all over again...

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2016-02-13 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
What is something you have recently rewatched/replayed/reread that you fell in love with all over again?

I just watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier again and I remembered how fucking much I love that movie. The Bucky/Steve relationship, the action sequences, Natasha and Steve being best bros, the soundtrack, ALL OF IT! All of it is just as good as I remember.

Well I literally just watched Ep1 of Ivor the Engine, so that.

I just watched a bit. That art style is exactly what you think of when you think of a cartoon from the 50s-60s. Hell, even that narrator is what I would expect! Beautiful.

I recently rewatched Band Of Brothers, and now my tumblr is basically just Winters and Nixon gazing at each other adoringly.

I'd have to fall out of love with it to fall back into love with it. But really, that show is probably my favorite of all time. It is so beautiful and it was cast so well (who knew Ross could be such a prick).

Yes, I think it's my favourite thing ever put to screen. Nothing has surpassed it so far, anyway.

And man, I thought I hated Ross, but Sobel...eek.

I revisited BoB the other day too then had a mini fic spree. Oh the feels. :)

So did I! So many feels! There's so many great ships in this fandom. Which pairings are your favourite?

I can't believe how well Robocop holds up. So many of the jokes are about things that are still problems today.

The old one? I am pretty sure I have seen that (though I could be thinking of the second one). I remember being mostly creeped out by the prosthetics. :X

The acid goon? Yeah, that gave me nightmares when I watched it as a kid.

The jokes fell out of relevance for a long time in the 1990s and early 00s. It is only since '04 they've became relevant again.

Before Christmas I went on a That 70's Show binge on Netflix and re-discovered how much I loved that silly show. It's not the greatest thing ever but I loved the characters and their interactions were great.

And I re-read some of my X-Factor Invesitagions comics and remembered how much I enjoyed that series while it was going. The ending was a bit, eh but unfortunately it was rushed in order to finish it but the rest of it was good fun.

That 70s Show is so damn good! I watched the whole series growing up (we only had like 5 channels) and I loved it.

I reread Route 666 recently and I was again surprised just how entertaining I find it. I love the Cassie/Cisco relationship, and I was invested in Cassie rescuing the trapped souls, and I wanted to know what was going on in pseudo-Russia.

And the humor! This is not a comic I expected to have any humor. It's great!

Ah! That is a CrossGen thing. That took a while to figure out! There is an episode of SPN called Route 666 with a character named Cassie. I wonder if some inspiration was drawn from one to the other.

I sometimes forget how amazing the first season of Elementary was until I go back and rewatch it. Like, holy shit, it is so GOOD. I think "Snow Angels" might be one of my favourite episodes of any TV show ever - I'd definitely put it in my Top 10.

Baldur's Gate, due to buying the Enhanced Edition. I'm just very quietly happy to be able to play my favourite again.

Final Fantasy IV. I'm only realizing now just how different it is from the rest of the franchise. Most others, your companions are friends fighting for the same cause. In FFIV, everyone that joins your party is someone whose life Cecil has directly or indirectly ruined. It's pretty chilling when you think about it.

Re: Falling in love all over again...

I'm the only person I know who wants more challenges like FFIV's challenges. I can never figure out how to minmax properly, so my survival in most RPGs boils down to "How can I possibly beat this enemy with such ill-prepared and underpowered characters?" FFIV cuts out the middleman by directly assigning characters' stats and intentionally giving you awkward party combinations. (How'd you like to fight undead with a bunch of squishy casters and one warrior who can't hurt undead? How'd you like to have four melee attackers and only three melee positions?) Each challenge is tough but fair, so it's a lot easier to deal with than the blatantly unfair challenges I wind up with when I try to assign stats myself.

The original trilogy of Star Wars. Watched TFA and enjoyed it, but then I rewatched the originals, and just fell back in love with them all over again. Particularly ESB-era fic. I am currently eating up all the fic I can find like that. One of the bonuses of revisiting a fandom is that there are lots and lots of finished fics for you to discover.

"YE SHALL NOT ROB FROM THE HOUSE I HAVE BUILT..."

Recently got into Thief again after, what, 5 years of thinking I'd outgrown it and making fun of the fandom (which deserves it.) In spite of everything, it's good to be back.

Read Monstrous Regiment for the third time, a couple days ago. Noticed a lot of background details and themes that I hadn't caught on the first two reads.
