I hate genderswaps when it turns M/M or F/F ships into F/M, unless a character can specifically change gender, like Ranma or angels from Supernatural, or they have official genderbent versions (ala Osomatsu-san). But even then I don't like reading it. :p I do like it if it's art and not on fics, but again, not if it's something shippy and it's F/M.

As for the reverse (F/M turning into M/M or F/F), eh. I guess it would be the same, but I don't have that many F/M ships that I care about so it's kinda a moot point for me.

I like genderswaps that turn a same sex pairing to M/F just long enough for them to realize their attracted to that person, and then they switch back to their original forms and it's like 'oh shit, i'm still attracted to them even tho they're the same sex as me now.' Like it brings out feelings that were always there just repressed. That's how I roll. It's my kryptonite.

Oh yeah, temporary genderswaps. Those are pretty fun, so I'm fine with that. And also, I'd be okay with the pairing getting reincarnated to different genders, or meeting parallel versions, as long as the endgame is still M/M or F/F.

Oh, Ranma...

I just wish I could find any Ranma/Ryoga fics that didn't end up with Ranma deciding to permanently stay as a woman for Ryoga-chan.

(I have never found a fic that wasn't creepy about it. If they were writing Ranma as a transwoman, who identifies as female no matter what her body looks like and decides to use the curse to be herself, it would be one thing. But no. It is always male!Identifing Ranma deciding randomly to stay in the female body to be a good wife. And that's when there's no creepy mindcontrol involved)

Have you read that giganticamly long timetravel one? I'm not sure how much that'd qualify since it's really all off-screen in The future, bit it's made clear that a) Ramma thinks og himself as both man and woman, and b) he isn't in girl form permanently anyway.

I started reading one that had Ranma falling on his head and then mind-traveling to the future where he was married to Ryoga and had a child. I didn't finish reading it since everyone reffered to Ranma as Ranma-chan and that tends to be a big red button for the "stays as a girl" fics.

But I would adore a link? I mean, if it's the one I didn't finish, I was mis-representing it, and if it's not... Hell, I need more Ranma/Ryoga in my life.

Yep, that's the one, linked to the chapter where the What Gender Is Ranma Anyway is finally put to rest if you want to make sure you'll like it.

I'm a bit wary about reccing it wholeheartedly since it's old-ish and has some bits that are kind of un-PC by current fandom today, but it spends a LOT of time dealing with the misogyny which is Ranma's modus operandi in canon. It's also the only Ranma 1/2 fic I've ever read, so if you've got any Ranma/Ryoga recs, feel free to share *g*
