Everyone is really good at tagging their stuff.

I mean, if I clicked on a link for, say, casefic set in Season 1 and got surprise!knotting I'd be annoyed, but I've literally never seen that happen.

Which makes sense, because writers who write a/b/o want to attract readers who are fans of the stuff, not readers who like me who just want to read about two emotionally constipated brothers hunting monsters.

Yes exactly! Part of the draw of writing A/B/O has to be the ready-made audience (I know for me, if I'm really into something I will read absolute crap if it has that something). And I think a lot of fandom is really latching on to things like trigger warnings and kink warnings, nobody wants to be dragged through the mud because they didn't label properly.
