Fist of the North Star

Dear fandom friend,

Thank you so much for the rec! Aaaahhh I love it so much! I'm also really happy we have the same OTP again although I'm kind of scared of telling you because I swear I'm not doing it on purpose! OTL

I think if you liked the first three parts of JJBA (Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, and Stardust Crusaders), then FotNS is definitely something to look into. It's complete at 400+ chapters (some of the scanlations are really bad though) and features the original bara hunk himself, Kenshiro. <3

The villains are also really well-developed (with their own spin-off anime/manga series on top of extended manga arcs) and there's an additional pleasure in reading it because, well, it's past 200X and we've not reached apocalypse yet!

This being really old school shounen, the female characters are pretty lacking. There's like... three of them... and the most powerful/important one is noncombatative. Also all the male characters (well, all the powerful ones) are mad in love with her as a result of their ~*~shared childhood~*~. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend reading this if you can't stomach women being thrown around like potatoes.

But seeing as how I grew up on mahou shoujo stuff, having (1) guys with muscles and (2) guys who aren't just fodder to be kidnapped is pretty refreshing so I like it! :D
