I can't speak for anyone else but my problem with it is that that kind of critical viewpoint is wrong and dumb, and leads to really fucking same-y, boring movies.

Is anyone else boggling a little at the claim that TFA isn't "really fucking same-y"? I mean, probably the biggest disappointment I had while watching it is that it felt to me like an insufficiently transformed remix of A New Hope. I was utterly bored by every minute of the Death Star 3.0 subplot.

I actually think it was pretty refreshing in that it dared to be "oldschool" in the pirates of the Caribbean 2-way while still being casually contemporary without being as on the nose about it as movies lately tend to be.
