Anything Edgar Wright related because I'm sick of people praising him like he's God's gift to comedy. Scott Pilgrim did nothing for me.

I seem to recall Scott Pilgrim was about hipsters hipstering a lot, with vague dumb video game references in it to appeal to "the youth" (aka. hipsters).

I was vaguely offended as a gamer, at the time.

Ayrt

I swear to god the characters were like a compendium of every negative stereotype surrounding milennials. Christ I'm not the biggest fan of my generation but we're not that douchebaggy and lazy

lol yep. Maaaaybe the comic wasn't that bad (never read it) but HOO BOY was the movie ever insulting. And the worst part about it was that I was introduced to it as, "This movie is basically your childhood".

I briefly considered ending the friendship over that assertion, but decided it was not worth it.

I liked the visuals in the movie, those were cool, but I pretty much hated all the characters because they were insufferable douchecanoes who I was supposed to sympathise with apparently?

(Okay that's a lie, I liked Knives because she was mostly sweet and I hated that I was supposed to 'root' for Scott dumping her, she did nothing to deserve it).

Yes, 100% this.

Apparently in the comics Scott learns that he's a giant fuckboy in the end and his lesson results in him staying with Knives. I'm not sure whether or not that makes me feel better or worse about it, because Knives deserves SO MUCH BETTER.
