(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 01:39 am (UTC)(link)A lot of ecchi shows, like the Love Hina-esque variety, are actually for like 14 year old boys. They're not really meant for adults - that's why they never have sex in them, just teasing and boobs and panties.
There are late-night shows, though, for sure, but most animators would rather get their stuff shown in the middle of the day because it gets more views. So they make it family friendly (and Japan they aren't as prudish as Americans, so what is seen as family friendly is far broader a category. IE, they show Princess Mononoke in the middle of the day with no warnings for violence. And it is considered a family movie).
