I agree with this. I liked them for a while. It was the hype and the happiness to be back in Middle Earth and my love of some of the characters. But I've come to realize that while there are bits that I really like, as a whole they are very disappointing.

Has anybody done a "good parts edit" for them yet? Because that might be actually enjoyable.

I think there have been a couple. The one I saw took out all the Dol Goldur stuff, which bugged me because it is canon that stuff happened, even if we don't know exactly how. And they also took out the songs from the first movie which are canon and adorable.

okay, that is not a "good parts" in my book. I loved the songs! That was my major beef with the LOTR films - not enough songs.
I was also okay with the Dol Goldur stuff.
