Re: Rant/vent thread
I'm sorry you're dealing with that.
Do you think trying to sleep with an audiobook or some soft music on would make you more aware of where you are during that? That's my go-to for half asleep panic attacks.
Re: Rant/vent thread
If nothing else it should help me relax enough to actually sleep.

Re: Rant/vent thread
I don't drink much caffeine normally but I might cut back a bit anyway because I do not want to go through that again, and even if it's more peace of mind I don't care, it'll help me relax I think.
Re: Rant/vent thread
So yeah, I understand.
Re: Rant/vent thread
I get sleep paralysis from time to time and it is the absolute worst. It doesn't matter how much you tell yourself it's not real; in the moment, it's happening, and it's there, and it sucks.
I will say that I can usually get past it by meditating. Is that an option for you?
Re: Rant/vent thread
But this time was fucking awful so there was no calm 'just drift off and let it work itself out', I was kind of in a panic and went with the force myself awake route(which I find disorientating enough when I'm not scared as shit).
I'm not so good at meditating, can't clear my mind properly for it, but I think having some kind of noise going on might help in the future as it could help me figure out where I am.

There's no set pattern I can think of tbh, but I'm definitely gonna try herpy's less caffeine idea.
Re: Rant/vent thread
(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 04:36 am (UTC)(link)I would wake up and hear footsteps in the hall outside my bedroom door--even voices (or a voice) and someone running the water or peeing in the hall bathroom. The footsteps would get nearer and nearer to my door, and I'd think, this door isn't going to keep out anyone that really wants to get in, I have to open the window, take the screen out, climb out, and climb over the fence, and then I have to run like fuck, now, now, NOW. And I'd lie there and not be able to move. Finally I'd wake up for real.
IDK why it doesn't happen in the other room--which even opens onto the same hallway.

Thanks for the suggestion though. :)
