Re: Media whose existence you appreciate, but is not for you

I've watched most of the first season and a few episodes after that. I don't related to any of the girls specifically. It's too narrow of a perspective, even if she is just making fun of/sympathizing with a generation. I do relate to being on the go and not having established myself yet and being looked down on as some kind of incomplete adult. Though I work two paying jobs, pay for school and attend grad classes.

Painfully I can relate to having bad relationships with men, though not necessarily mirroring any of the relationships featured in the show. It's sad that I think Adam is really nice to her, isn't it? I don't even like the characters and even think some of the dialogue is borderline racist, but I do relate to the fractured relationships they have. I also think most people in their twenties are abhorrently selfish like they are.

Yeah, I feel like the show maybe highlighted too many negative aspects of relationships and the social pressures of being 20something. I watch TV to escape reality, not dwell in it.

Does that feeling of not being a proper adult ever go away?

I honestly don't remember much about Adam in the show. It took me some googling to work out where I knew him from when people were talking about him in Star Wars.
