By "horrible excuse for a human being" you mean "one of the bravest people Harry ever knew and named his son after him" or "the person Dumbledore trusted above everyone else and who died to save the wizarding world"?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, I got it right the first time.

Doing an act for Dumbledore does not make him any less of a bitch.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-18 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Rowling got it right, not you.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oooookay. Keep worshiping your child-bullying, bitchy personality slimy douchebag of a wank fantasy then. You do you.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Snape is all grey. You can't make him a saint: he was vindictive & bullying. You can't make him a devil: he died to save the wizarding world."

But I'm sure you're more of an expert on the character than Rowling is.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, authors don't get to tell us what we're supposed to think of characters. An author saying "He's awesome and amazing" does not magically make him awesome and amazing. Is that seriously your argument?

He's a shitty person. Yes, obviously he played a role in the end and "did good". That doesn't negate the fact that he's a shitty person. The extreme bullying and abuse he did to kids doesn't suddenly disappear. You can do one good act and still be a horrible person every day. And in the context of this secret, are you trying to imply that Snape is a totally awesome husbando to want to have?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
lol at "extreme bullying and abuse". Are you serious? He was a twat but he wasn't the guy from 'Whiplash'.

And Snape was doing good for the last 17 years of his life. He repeatedly risked his life to protect Harry.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the guy in Whiplash was, explicitly, doing it to make his student better. Snape didn't care if his students learned anything as long as he got to belittle them.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
DA

was the whiplash guy doing it to make his students better? or did he just have anger issues and was using that to justify it?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
You were probably one of those people who hated the extra information Rowling gave fans until she said something vaguely complimentary about Sevvie-pie.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not even sure what extra information you're referring to so ... no?

Because of course, those things are mutually exclusive and can have absolutely no overlap whatsoever.

Seriously Snapefans and anti-Snapefans both drive me nuts. YOU'RE BOTH RIGHT. SIT DOWN AND HAVE A COOKIE.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Snape fans acknowledge his flaws, Snape haters refuse to acknowledge or attempt to undermine his positive qualities.

Eh, I've seen both of those, but I've also seen Snape haters who say (logically) 'He did good stuff but that does not excuse that he was a big jerk a lot' and Snape fans who say 'yeah he's flawed but it's ok because HE HAS REAASSSONNSS'.

Usually here it goes back and forth between both the extreme sides of both, with the Snape fans shouting 'REASSSSONNSSS' and the haters shouting 'HE DID BAD THINGS SO NO ONE SHOULD LIKE HIM YOURE JUST EXCUSING IT' with the occasional rational voice piping in.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, those aren't Snape fans, they're Snape fen, which is a completely different group.

My point still stands.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
I thought 'fen' was the plural form of 'fan', am I wrong?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god I love this line. Used in every ship war or "Is character awesome or terrible" war ever. "Us so-and-so fans are reasonable, the anti-so-and-so fans are crazy and mean!"

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Maaaybe there's a reason people keep saying that.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe you're for real lmao

(Anonymous) 2016-02-19 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Because of course, those things are mutually exclusive and can have absolutely no overlap whatsoever.

i absolutely gree they have overlap but man do Dumbledore and Harry have shit taste XD

Eh, Harry, sure, but Dumbledore knew him longer and better and would have seen more of his good side.
