Me, too, OP.

Skyrim was a nightmare because the horses have the courage of a Nord but not the HP. I would get so angry when my horses charged headfirst into dragons and would die like a minute later, before I could hunt them down and try to get them away. And if I got off my horse to do a dungeon, and couldn't find the horse later, I'd be freaked out that the horse was dead... which it sometimes was. Damn it, Frost!

So I went ahead and installed a horse invincibility mod. In theory I like the idea that horses can die, because it means you have to be careful, but fuck it's not fair that they also TRY to die!

Oh god, Frost! He drove me crazy! I don't know how many times I reloaded when my horse died, but Frost seemed especially prone to charging dragons and dying. And then I lost Shadowmere for like... what felt like half the game (or most of what was left after I acquired him.) I can't remember how I finally found him again.

But yeah, I ended up with a horse invincibility mod too.

I'm loving Witcher 3 for horses that can't die! I'll forgive Roach for bucking me off occasionally when I'm getting too caught up in running through packs of wolves or bands of nekkers trying to hack them from horseback... but at least he doesn't get killed!

I haven't played the games, but in the books Roach is a mare.

FUCKING FROST. He's ALWAYS attacking dragons omfg you are a horse, please stop! I ended up editing the game so he was invincible. It was such a pain! STOP TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF.
