I do think most of the time, they don't really have any illness. I know not everyone thinks like me, but I'd feel pretty embarrassed to flaunt any of my illnesses, mental or physical, so I find it pretty disrespectful/annoying when kids wave around their mental illness flags to claim they're privileged to this or people shouldn't do that.

I think it does depend on how they mention it. Because mentioning it is different from flaunting. Personally I have disorders that I once was embarrassed about but see no reason to anymore.

I have mentioned them in the context of explaining my perspective and experience with it, because I feel these things should be talked about. But not in the context of getting a pass on things that I shouldn't get a pass on, like being hateful and rude.

Yeah I agree with you there. I do mention my disorders if the context calls for it. It's when I see things like 'I have autism so DON'T MESS WITH ME' in Tumblr bios, I raise a handful of eyebrows.

Yeah that does piss me off especially as I'm on the spectrum.

It also depresses me how it fuels the people who mock all autistic people, and makes some of them more defensive and just becomes a cycle of antagonism that never ends.
