Sickness (gross talk)

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2016-02-20 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, my shopping plans were cancelled when I woke up last night spewing everything from my body (from both ends). I have never thrown up so much in my life. Right now I am in bed trying to get comfortable because I now have head and body aches.

Any one have some suggestions for dealing with this beyond pepto and sleep? Been sleeping for life 16 hours so can't do it anymore.

Keep hydrated, even if it's hard to keep down. Gatorade or other electrolyte beverage so you don't put yourself in danger if you keep vomiting/having diarrhea.

Sometimes a suppository of a travel sickness medication is helpful for nausea. Otherwise there's not much to do other than ride it out and hope it's over with quickly.

Right now I am driving seven up or sprite. I honestly can't remember which. I will try and get some water in me in a bit. And maybe assume delicious saltines.

Saltines are my go to. And consommé or other clear broth when I can stomach it.

I hope you feel better soon. Yours is a situation with which I deeply empathize.

Bananas, dark chocolate and coca-cola (not at the same time).

I just ate a banana but it was a bit too ripe. :(

Never heard of eating dark chocolate. I might have since though

Right now I am drinking seven up.

Gatorade is my go to. Depending, flat ginger ale is another option. I like to much on saltines or a bowl of bland white rice is good.

Oh god. Saltines sound amazing. I got to go hobble and see if we have any.

Sounds like Noro. :/

Hydration is vital. You can get into real trouble if you don't stay hydrated. Water is better than nothing but you really want a rehydration drink that will restore your electrolytes.

If you're still throwing up then drink orange squash as well. It really improves the flavor when it comes back up.

Hope you feel better soon!

Awe man. That sounds exactly like what it is. My younger sister had it first. Then my mom. Now my older sister and I got it.

Right now I am drinking sprite but I think I am going to get some ice cubes to chew on.

As a nursing friend of mine once said it's like you're trying to throw up your toenails. Been there, done that.

I don't have anything to add advice wise since others have already said it. I do hope you're feeling better sooner rather than later.

Throwing up your toenails is an apt description.

Plenty of liquids, and some bland food if you can keep it down. Clear chicken broth is good. Maybe with some ginger simmerered in it for nausea.

Just had some chicken broth and crackers. I hope it stays down!

Flat ginger ale, tea, crackers, bananas, chicken soup.
What you have sounds perfectly awful. Make sure you have someone to look after you, and I hope you get better soon.

Thank you. I seem to be doing better now than my sister. I;ve kept food down for about 30 minutes.

Ack that's the worst,

I'd try drinking some sort of carbonated lemon lime drink or ginger ale for stomach crap. Also for food, simple things like crackers or bread. Nothing dairy probably.

Hope that helps.

I find the electrolyte drinks easier to chug down when they're near freezing. It somehow disguises the weird salty taste of evil. I sometimes keep a pack of mints around just to smell so I don't have to be constantly smelling whatever is currently coming out of me. Yuck.

I hope it passes soon!
