I imagine that it's like any other personal problems: some are telling the truth, some are exaggerating, some are underselling it, and some are flat out lying.

Let's talk however about the most annoying "use" of mental illness in online spaces, which has got to be "conveniently neglecting to ever mention its existence until you're being called out for shitty behavior, at which point it suddenly becomes a get-out-of-jail-free card".
