You'd hate following me, lmao. I have my reminders set to certain times to hit the most amount of people. I've been doing this long enough to know when the traffic spikes are and when certain people are online who are more likely to reblog and also boost visibility.

Fic writing is a goddamn marketing scheme these days, trying to get people to read it all.

DA, but I really can't blame you. Tumblr seems like the absolute worst possible site for fic writers. The format is just... so, totally wrong for anything but nice pictures.

yeah i wish people would post to Ao3 too. It's way easier to find fics that way. I also hate reading on people's blogs, you've got distracting backgrounds, music, weird tiny fonts, and it's hard to find the next chapter or other work they did.

I post to AO3 as well, but people read on different platforms. Wide audience.

All of this. I only read fic from Tumblr if they link to AO3 posts, because 99 percent of Tumblr fonts and colors make it impossible for me to read anything but a couple sentences.

I would unfollow you. I might not make it to the end of the posts on my dash for the day, but you spamming four times is four posts I didn't get a chance to see. (Or however many times you repost.)

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Considering people follow me for the fic I write, you probably wouldn't have followed me to begin with, bruh.

DA. Here's the thing about creators "spamming" their creations:

If they're "spamming" then it's because no one is reblogging it. And there's a wide variety of factors for why (ranging from "it's shit" to "no one saw it because of the time it was posted for")

So maybe reblog creations and they'll stop "spamming" so much.

Or like, don't follow people who make things.

Huh? How does this make sense? I should reblog shitty fic to encourage the author from annoying behavior? Like... why is this a more reasonable solution than authors not spamming their shitty fic because they're not getting any reblogs?

(Anonymous) 2016-02-24 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
The fact that you focus on the low end of the spectrum says a lot more than the derailment here. I said that it applies across the board, it doesn't matter if it's a newbie writer or an established one. We all do what we have to in order to be read, and that involves reblogging stuff to make sure it gets the largest audience possible.

Why would you even follow creators if you aren't going to support things they create? If you're following someone, it's probably because you like what they post. You don't want to read shitty fic? Don't follow someone who writes it. Or, gasp, use a tag-blocking addition. There's your whole problem solved, most people tag it if it's a reblog from earlier in the day!

I just post to A03, never have any problems finding readers.
