Then again, I suppose you are truly living up to "don't like don't read" so hey. Read what you want. I'm sure there are just hordes of authors who don't write porn and have their little not-writing-porn club where they talk about how frustrated they make their readers by not writing porn mwahahaha.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 12:04 am (UTC)(link)Everyone is being stupid in this thread.
(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 05:00 am (UTC)(link)Everyone in this thread is being so bratty and ridiculous. Secret OP is picking fanfics their own way, and if they don't want to read anything but hardcore dirty smut, who gives a fuck? If they're also glad they're avoiding people like lemon-heart secret anon who have this weird "MUAHHHAHAHA I HAVE IT YOU'LL JUST NEVER SEE IT" vendetta going on with their fans...well then that's their prerogative, I want to avoid people like that too in all honesty. If they feel they only want to support smut authors, whooooooooo cares? They're not DOING FANDOM WRONG or whatever petty bullshit people are coming up with, and throwing out the hyperbolic crap lie "OMG DO YOU DO THAT WITH ALL THE MEDIA YOU CONSUME LOLLOLLOLOL!?!", like come on are you people really listening to yourselves? Maybe step away from the bails of hay you all are using to create giant strawmans and think on your own for a second.
Do you know for how many people fandom is literally just a place to read dirty stories that they aren't going to get in canon? It certainly is for me. I enjoy watching Attack On Titan or Hawaii 5-0 or Criminal Minds or whatever else, and I enjoy the media for what it is...but you know what?
Sometimes I just want to read fic where Levi bends Eren over a chair and fucks him raw. Or sometimes I want to read where Reid somehow gets roped into cross-dressing for a case and that leads to Derek taking him in the hotel room they're staying in. Sometimes I wanna read how Danny's frustration with Steve boils over into worry and a boatload of sexual tension that they preferably take care of like grunting wild fuckpig animals.
If I want the original media, I'll read the original media. For me, fandom, fanfiction and fanart is largely about getting my rocks off, and fuck all these weird insinuations that this is somehow doing fandom wrong, or not part of what fandom is for, or whatever other bullshit everyone is coming up with in this thread.
Fandom is about wish fulfillment if you strip it to the bare bones, and if part of that wish fulfillment is deciding that you're only going to invest your time in fic if you get a messy sweaty porn scene at some point? That's just as valid as the person deluding themselves that reading a sprawling AU is somehow "better" because it's a different type of wish fulfillment. Whether the porn is emotional (because that's all these ubiquitous flower shop/coffee house/etc AUs are, and that's all hurt/comfort fic is, and many more), or physical, people are looking to get off in one way or another, and these types of fics absolutely dominate the fandom landscape.
Also, nowhere do I see where this secret OP says they feel people "owe" them porn. They're deliberatorly going to where the porn is in order to find it, that's like the opposite of feeling like non-porn authors "owe" them shit. They're deliberately going out of their way to avoid authors like lemon-heart secret OP. Nowhere does it say "I HARASS AUTHORS UNTIL THEY GIVE ME PORN, OF WHICH I AM ENTITLED TO". Like wtf? Anyone want to take a crack at explaining where the fuck they're getting all this "OWE" bullcrap?
/Rant fucking OVER
Re: Everyone is being stupid in this thread.
(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 05:02 am (UTC)(link)That would be "deliberately" in that last paragraph, that is the weirdest fucking autocorrect/two word mashup/whatever the hell it was ding fuck up I've ever see though.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 05:20 am (UTC)(link)This entire thread is frustrating as hell though, it reminds me of the kind of jumping to the absolute worst conclusions without parsing the actual text for context that tumblr is pretty famous for.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)But then I was another anon who thought that lemon secret was kind of petty. So I'm inclined to agree with the OP of this secret anyway.

Though I don't know how you'd be able to tell if a fic writer was deliberately withholding porn unless they stated so themselves. Otherwise I'd figure that they either don't write porn or didn't want that particular story to be explicit, neither of which is unreasonable at all.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 04:38 am (UTC)(link)Not gonna get into this thread but yeah, I've personally seen authors who do this weird "teasing" thing like they'll mention all the porn they write and leave in their "fic drawer" (it took me a little while to get that they're just talking about a folder or space on their computer they keep their original stuff OTL) and when their fans perk up and go "are you going to share it? We love your writing!" they get...mad?? I dunno, it's weird, and I've only seen it with a handful of authors so it's not like this giant FANDOM CONSPIRACY or anything but yeah, there are people out there who do that. To be fair I think big fans of authors would want to read ANY fics they have hanging out in their "fic drawer" and it's not predicated upon it being porn necessarily, but that was an issue with a couple of them.

I've not seen that behaviour myself but I would find it confusing, most authors I've seen who do the 'so hey I write porn sometimes' are using it as a gauge to see how many of their readers would be interested in reading it.
Putting that out there and then getting mad at any interest is just silly imo.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)And not gonna lie, I do feel you in that I AM usually looking for porn in my fanfic. I do read gen and various other kinds of stories, but i am very often looking for my otp to bang. I don't think writers ~owe me anything, or anything like that. But to act like I don't huff out a breath in frustration when a story decides to fade to black or end right after the kiss...would be a lie.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 05:15 am (UTC)(link)If people like the anon who created the lemon heart secret give secret OP extra incentive to stay where there is already porn? Who gives a shit, really? I think lemon heart anon was petty as fuck too, and they're getting a weird ass thrill out of it. At least this anon is just saying "this isn't the kind of author I want to support". I don't either. I think their secret was childish as hell, and I've seen this same kind of attitude from other authors as well, which I mentioned in another comment. If secret OP wants to only support smut authors? Cool. As a smut author (and massive reader) I approve, I'm tired of people acting like smut has no redeeming value whatsoever. Yeah, it does. If I can get someone off, or make them hot and bothered with my words? Cool with me, I've done my job!
Let secret OP do fandom how they want, for fuck's sake people.

(Anonymous) 2016-02-25 05:46 am (UTC)(link)Look, rant!anon, I get where you're coming from. You might notice that there's a trend on this comm for people to react with side-eye and more whenever somebody says they only consume one form/genre of media. We've had secrets about people who only read "literary literature", and the comments called them a snob. We've had people who say they only ever read fanfiction, and the comments criticized them. Pretty much every secret where the OP says they only read this one thing, people take umbrage with.
In this case, OP sounds really smug about their only reading porn (and btw, remember that there's a sizeable group of genfic-fans on this comm), and that stupid lemon secret OP was also really smug for no good reason.
Hell, if OP only reads smutty fanfic, who's to know? None of us follow them around.
Plenty of people here like smut, write smut, and read smut. Nobody minds that. Keep on truckin', and I'm sure you make your readers very happy (<=not sarcasm).
But since OP felt the need to smugly tell us that anything without smut is worthless, the comm is reacting.
