I don't care what people ship. And Snape is not my thing. But from the way Snape threads often blow up here in FS, I'd say the super-fans and the super-haters are both united in the fact that they identify way too much with the character. Either because the way he was treated reminds them of something that happened to them, or the way he treats others reminds them of something that happened to them. So there is often a whole lot of not-entirely-rational discourse that swirls around the character.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Snape and Adult!Hermione are my OTP but I know it's fucked. It hits a lot of my kink buttons and I can identify with it.

But plenty of ships are fucked. Ron and Hermione seem pretty fucked to me too if you just go by the books there is no way the marriage would last. So shippers are gonna ship.

I hope you're not implying that Ron/Hermione is fucked up on the same level as Snape/Hermione.

And come on you like what you like and you don't have to ship it but how is H/R fucked? They bicker, yes, but they're the same age, they've been friends for years, and...what other criteria are there? They're not related. Neither one is abusive. It's actually a pretty typical relationship. I don't care if you ship it but calling it fucked up is pretty o___O? to me.

R/H is fucking in a different way. They don't bicker. They fight and there has been abuse or did you not count sending birds to attack Ron when he was dating Lavender abuse? I do. They have nothing in common except for Harry. Hermione was into books, learning, and civil rights like with SPEW. Ron was into sports. They do share teenage hormones and familiarity but that's about it. Both things that won't sustain an adult relationship. I agree with Rupert Grint when he said they would end up divorced. www.moviefone.com/2016/02/08/rupert-grint-thinks-ron-wouldve-divorced-hermione-by-now/

I would not count one incident as abuse, no, especially since 1. JKR had a lot of exaggerated scenes like that that didn't reflect on the characters overall and 2. I generally see abuse as a pattern and not a single outburst.

as for the rest...I don't care if you don't ship it, don't care if you don't think they have anything in common, that is super besides the point. two people dating who have nothing in common is perhaps futile, but it is not fucked up.
