Dreaming Again

[personal profile] mrs_don_draper 2016-03-02 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Just a heads up! Tomorrow, I will be submitting the dream where there someone explores a haunted house and sees a creepy figure in the mirror and the one where someone is running out of a cave that turns out to be an old house. I combined those two dreams together into one haunted house story! Thank you to the two anons who sent those my way! Let me know if you want to read it!

Also, I hate to be obnoxious, but if anyone else wants to share a dream, I'd be so grateful because I didn't have any this week. I hate this class so much. >.

...a dream class?

Well, the full class title is "Dreams & Fiction." I joined it thinking we'd get to write funny, silly nonsense stories and about magic and flying, but I was 100% wrong. The class is basically reading our dream journals aloud, the professor reading something to us, and then us getting admonished for "not dreaming enough." So I have started coming here for dreams since I rarely have them. It's literally the worst class I've had in a while.

Uh, I get a lot of vivid dreams, usually weird. Here are a few I had in the past few nights.

One where I was designing a space ship and ran out of money and had to go ask the Avengers for money to complete my project.

One where I developed the ability to fly but suddenly gravity didn't affect me and I floated into space.

One where I went to adopt a cat from a shelter, but I couldn't choose which one, so I came home with ten.

One where I kept trying to go out on a date with Thor, but my parents and sister would not leave us alone and kept following us everywhere we went.

One where I got to choose to visit any one of my favorite fictional worlds, and I wanted to visit them all. But then my machine broke and I was stuck in the Tardis. And I couldn't get excited because I was too busy trying to fix the machine so I could go other places.

Those are going to be fun ones to write! Thanks! :)

Ooh, I'm cave-house anon and def want to know.

My dream last night started with me rushing to pack a suitcase knowing that I was probably going to be late to wherever only to have a friend come in and point out that I'd missed the deadline to hand in my final story (that I hadn't done) for an English class. I abandoned my packing and was furiously writing sentences that I hoped would somehow just become a story by the time we got there.

And then I was at my high school, or someplace like it, and I couldn't find my classroom. I had no idea where it or my teacher was, I was just running through the building aimlessly, and then I woke up.

Also, I'm 33, so no, kids, those school nightmares never do go away.

Lol yeah, I'm 30 and I just had a school nightmare the other day...

Okay, here it is!

The cave is so dark that I can’t even see the bats that are flying over my head. The floorboards creak beneath me as I trudge through the gloom. Out of nowhere, I get the overwhelming sense that something or someone is after me. The hair on the back of my neck stands on end, and I start running full tilt, not even knowing if I’m heading towards an exit.

When I finally make it outside, I see that I was not in a cave at all, but in an old, abandoned house. It's a stark, grey splotch on a wide prairie. I am still running. I run across the huge grassy plain that surrounds the whole outside of the house for as far as I can see when I hear a noise that sounds like a thousand windows and wooden beams breaking at the same time. I turn around again, this time in horror as a giant black winged creature bursts out the top storey of the house. It lets out a shriek that almost makes me faint.

My feet pound against the mud and grasses even harder than before as I hear it's wings beating the air with a heavy whooshing sound. The distance between me and my car lengthens by what five football fields every time I get remotely close. My chest heaves as the beast gains on me. I feel its breath on my neck just as I drop my car keys in the grass.

The world tilts and flips on its side, and I’m back at the creepy house again, but this time I’m with a group of my friends. With company and armed with flashlights this time, I don’t feel so afraid. We explore the old rooms and peek under the canvases that cover the furniture. I pull a moth eaten tarp off of an ornate, floor length mirror and peer into it.

Suddenly, a man I don’t recognize stands behind in the reflection. I scream.

late, but hi, I'm exploring-the-house dream anon :D

that was cool! I haven't had any dreams I can remember in the past little bit, but I'll let you know if I do.

I was not either of those anons, but I want to read it!

I dreamt that I met a pair of twins (boy and girl), but they were super rude to me and I was in a kind of "mean girl" relationship with them. But then at a large gathering I saw that they were secretly recording us (voice/audio), because they were actually spies?? I told McGonagall about them (haha), and then later there was a trial on a cliff/bridge where the traitors had metal collars around their necks and were electrocuted by lightning called down from the sky. And then someone pointed out that the boy-twin was missing (he'd been one of the prisoners, and his twin had just been executed); I knew that he was after me for revenge, so I jumped into the water. Yeah.

I had a dream that I was running around a building trying to discover the clues left by some sort of serial killer. There would be notes in each room, and my partner & I had to follow the trail; the last room had a room number on the note, and we hurried there because we knew that the killer and his victim were in there. I was rushing to the room when someone shouted behind me in warning, and then I got shot in the chest.

That sounds really scary, but it will be fun to flesh out (haha). Thanks!

Kind of sounds like an interesting class minus the forced dreaming???

I once dreamed that there was an evil teddy bear in my garage, and I had to punch it.

Also had a dream that I was in a small city(?) of buildings, and I had to hide because someone was trying to kill me. I hid in some cabinets and then ended up trying to dress skimpily to distract my pursuer/killer.

Not sure if either of those is actually suitable for class, lol.

Those are definitely some good ones to share. Hardly anyone shares funny dreams, which stinks!

The class would be cool if the teacher wasn't so full of himself.

I had this really neat dream last night. It starts off in this really crappy society, where like a lot of people were living on the streets in this walled-off area. And the main character is this young girl who's living on her own on the streets. She has all her belongings bundled up on the streets, but then one day there's like this omen "all foam will turn to seafoam" which means all the foam (like packing styrofoam that wraps her stuff) like melts and turns into water, so basically she loses a lot of her stuff. But then also the same day, this cool older girl returns to the town from her travels around the world, and tells the mc all about it, and so mc is inspired to take her inner tubes and float off on the ocean to travel the world. And she does!

After that it got a weird time skip and she was in this like rpg party adventuring type thing, Cloud Strife was there, also Grover, and some guy named Deacon who was blind, and they were like taking on this den of weird dragon lizard people. Idk it all made sense at the time.

Haha thanks for letting me ramble about my weird dream :)

Not my dream, but...

Sunday hubby went to bed before me, as he had to get up early. When I got into bed a couple hours later he said: "But you were just here!" and then as an afterthought "And we had sex: you were on top of me. It felt so real!"

So I guess he got visited by a mare or succubus or more benign (I hope, since he sounded pretty pleased), my "vardøger".

I wish I could participate, but I don't remember most of my dreams, and the ones that I do are the crazy, constantly-shifting ones that I have when I fall asleep listening to music. It's a bit like channel surfing in hell, actually -- one moment there's a car pulling up into a swampy parking lot outside a stripjoint named Water Compendium, the next is something out of an 80s anime, the next is chimps fighting.

And god forbid I fall asleep listening to something like Three 6 Mafia.

I had a dream the other night where Donald Trump didn't become President. He then hired assassins to take out the President and everyone who would succeed them. I also had one where Donald Trump hired people to destroy Fort Bragg, NC so he could blame it on another country and make money going to war. I just remember that they used drones to set the woods on fire and remote controlled cars carrying explosives.

I'm following my friends up a hill. The path is bare mud, slippy as hell. Everyone else is strolling happily ahead and I'm struggling to keep my footing. I slip and fall almost over the edge. Everyone else keeps walking, not even looking back. I pull myself back onto the path with great difficulty, getting covered in mud in the process. By the time I'm upright again, my friends have almost disappeared from sight.

My brain likes to draw extremely obvious parallels between my dreams and real life.
