I'm really sorry I didn't see this on the stream. It looks awesome. :(

It's hardly the worst thing that could happen while watching a movie.

I...genuinely don't see how you managed. They're *such* different people.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Super different. I sort of made this o__O "Wha?" face while reading this. XD

To be fair to OP, the green color scheme and the hair color aren't helping if you are trying NOT to see Loki

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
that's another thing I seriously blame on the marketing for this movie. GDT very much set out to make this homage/deconstruction of victorian gothic romance, and the marketing people gave him "OH LOOK IT'S LOKI IN A HORROR MOVIE."

It was textbook bad marketing, just fucking awful.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
What. You're pretty delusional if you actually think that.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
You're delusional if you think Crimson Peak was a straight horror movie, which in much of the US is what the trailers marketed it as. GDT himself commented on this repeatedly on the lead-up to release.

And the color coding for TH in things like the one-sheet above are ABSOLUTELY off mark, especially in comparison to how he's coded in the film without a hint of that green.

It's not that wild of an idea. Promos for movies are color coded for marketing purposes. This isn't a secret. Even Cracked wrote an article about it:

http://www.cracked.com/article_18664_5-annoying-trends-that-make-every-movie-look-same.html

Given the popularity of Marvel films and Loki as a villain, it's not a stretch to think that some marketing person went, "Hey, if we colorize this in green/black it looks like this successful character from this successful movie!" Hiddleston is the biggest name in Crimson Peak, they'd be fools not to try and use that to their advantage.

Yeah, it sounds nuts, but this is how marketing works. Remember the iconic cover for Twilight? After its success, there was a flood of similarly designed books on the market in black/red/white, some even repeating the "object held in two hands" layout:

It's not delusional. You just haven't noticed the similarities, or you're so used to it that it's "invisible" to you.

They're both really different people, so I kinda don't see it, but it sounds like a fun experiment for the next time I see the movie.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
It was terrible, so I'm sure that can only have improved it. Kind of wish I'd done the same now...
