Ughh that hurts to look at.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-03 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yikes. There was a line there and the artist clearly passed it and just kept going. And going. And going.

I agree that there are problems in how women are depicted in fiction. That said, it also depends a lot on your culture, and for people who are focused on Western media, I'm not sure why Japanese sexism would necessarily be a particularly meaningful argument.

I don't think you're wrong, but tbf it's not only women.

Yes, we are all acutely aware by now how very gross and fanservicey ill-proportioned big boobs are.

And only cishet men would ever enjoy anything like that, of course.

So... what's the problem?

I'm a woman, and a lesbian, and I have zero problem with characters being drawn sexually, especially if that is the purpose of the art.

I agree it's annoying when you have women in sexy poses in non-sexy situations, sure.

But it's okay to have sexy art. There's nothing inherently wrong with kink art that is meant to be arousing. I don't think the artist actually thinks women have three foot long boobs.

That is really strange looking. Not just the ridiculous size of the but also the placement. I mean she is bent over shouldn't they be higher. On the other hand boobs that size might reach to her knees or something.

Yikes.

It depends on context whether I agree with your secret - I mean, this looks like it's from porn, and porn isn't exactly expected to have a realistic depiction of anyone. Now if you expect me to believe that that woman is, say, a secret superspy who just HAPPENS to dress in lingerie and has boobs down to her knees, that'd be more of a problem.

(But even if it is just porn, that is some terrible terrible art. YIKES.)

Do people deny that there are problematic depictions of women in fiction?

I just think people tend to disagree on what is or isn't problematic specifically.

There's art out there with guys who have 3 foot long dongs. Sometimes 3, 3 foot long dongs. So you'd agree there are problems with the way men are depicted in fiction?

My back hurts just looking at those giant, misshapen flesh-bullets. Like, I get that they're supposed to be stylized anime boobs, but jeezum crow does the artist need a remedial anatomy course.

So, you've never seen enormous breasts in forced perspective before?

all those saying "bad anatomy"...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-04 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
...you've never googled "enormous tits," have you?

I certainly have to wonder if any of you have enormous tits.

Check out the old Japanese erotic woodblock prints. It's actually something they do intentionally where their sexual attributes are exaggerated. It isn't about anatomical accuracy, it's about focusing on the sexual aspect of it. I hate how westerners impose their own values onto everything they don't understand or are ignorant of.

Everything that came up for this image was from a site called Comics Porno Incesto. I don't think this is mainstream.

What squicks me out about this picture is not that her breasts are huge, it's that they appear to be either disabling or borderline-disabling. And that her breasts being borderline disabling seems to be part of the fetish.

Not that I draw some kind of hard line and go, "You're a bad person if you like this." I just find it squicky - particularly because, though it is rare in its extremity, it's merely an extreme example of a very prevalent way of depicting women.

I would also find something like this squicky if it were a picture of a guy with a disablingly huge penis and/or testicles. Though in that case, because it wouldn't play into a pervasive and widely accepted narrative of male sexual objectification, it would probably bother me somewhat less.
