Maybe in an era replete with austerity and inequality, flaunting your wealth wasn't the smart thing to do in the first place? Maybe, although the people who got upset were over-dramatic in their expression, people didn't take your side because they agreed? Maybe you were in the wrong and you were just being a spoiled little rich kid? Yeah, you were. You know it, that is why you are so upset over it.

You triggered someone and got called on your privilege. Pull on your big girl pants and just suck it up. There is a reason why the three things you never talk about are money, politics, and religion.

Eh, I'm sorry, but while OP might be a spoiled rich kid, getting "triggered" by knowing someone's spending money is bullshit. And I say this as someone who's income is below the poverty line.

This. I am poor as dirt, and I think it's silly to whine about fans who can enjoy things I can't afford.

I think if you're that sensitive that someone mentioning money can "trigger" you, YOU'RE the one who needs to pull on your big girl pants and do something about it. Get a job, and if you can't work, apply for public assistance. Whining about it is going to get you nowhere.

AYRT

I'm far from being a kid and no where near rich. I just have a decent job and no kids, so I have disposable income. I get why laying down the hard figures at how much some fandoms can cost could be upsetting to some, but it's still annoying when I see the same people squee about doing the same things I'm doing without others getting upset at them even though we all know how much they cost.

That is rich these days. It didn't used to be, true, but it is now. That means you have to guard your comments better.

So op should humble and punish themselves as is proper any time they want to talk to their fandom about costly fandom things.

Or maybe just not talk about expensive stuff with total strangers, always try the middle ground first.

They weren't talking about expensive stuff with total strangers, they were talking about fandom activities on their personal blog. There is a difference.

How the hell was OP "flaunting their wealth"?

Furthermore, how do you know that they're wealthy? They might have been saving for 5 years to attend this event. You're assuming a lot.

speaking as someone who has been cold, hungry, and nearly been homeless as result of poverty, shut your lil bitch mouth you know nothing. If someone is so whiny and pathetic that they can't handle knowing that another person is able to buy a thing, then they need to get off the internet until they've got over themselves.
