Put them away sweetie

(Anonymous) 2016-03-08 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Actresses (and actors I guess) you want to tell to just stop with the nudity.

Partly related to how Emilia Clarke has agreed to stop showing skin, and even Cara Delevigne agreed it's time she was seen as more than a pair of tits.

Putting my vote in for Eva Green. She's such a good actress and has the potential to be a positive and classy role model for young women, but instead in every film she does it's tits and cunt and tits again.

Do all your house appliances really look like weird colorful robots with shiny chrome buttons? That's what they looked like in the 50's, right?

No real opinion about OP's views but this made me laugh.

NAYRT

I FUCKING LOVE 50's/60's style appliances. I would do my whole kitchen that style if I had the cash (and didn't rent).

I'm not interested in going after the actors and actresses when what's more useful in the long term is the addressing of issues the west has with visible sexuality and the way it's interpreted/marketed. A lot of the personal value is taken from a woman's sexuality in order to pander to men, which is why it's oddly liberating to see when women DO master their own sexuality and then wield it, as someone like Nicki Minaj might.

The selling of male sexuality is a whole different odd can of worms.

In any case, I don't feel like going after Eva Green. I feel like going after the directors who go 'who do we got that's hot and won't fight if we tell her to put her tits out for a cheap thrill so nobody notices our plot fucking blows?'

Right!?

The op seems to think she's a great actor? she's nothing more than dumb eye candy to lure dumb people into seeing even dumber movies.

I was reading this and shaking my head at the state of modern trolling... they you got to eva green.

Kinda agree. She's a very pretty girl but at a certain point it's like "Enough, Heterosexual women go to movies too and we don't need to keep seeing this" She is basically the female ewan mcgregor.

Why do you fear breasts? They won't hurt you. Accept the boobies. Embrace the boobies. Be one with the boobies.

Because dudes never have to whip their dicks out to be taken seriously as actors?

Ehh, I don't like boobies, I prefer tits. They're cute and plump and round, while boobies are just dumpy and have blue feet.

I have to admit I do kinda respect Ms Clarke and Ms Delevingne, and the decision they made a lot more than Eva Green.

I actually don't think that you're entirely wrong but you're such a condescending dick about it that it feels wrong to agree with you

Re: Put them away sweetie

(Anonymous) 2016-03-08 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
YEP. Actresses shouldn't feel obligated/pressured to do nudity and I respect the choice for those who've made a strong statement not to. But if others are comfortable with it, I have no reason to judge. I can certainly critique the way that nudity is portrayed (situational/directional) but not necessarily that in and of itself.

OP is going about it like an asshole.

Re: Put them away sweetie

This. I pretty much just assume that anyone who uses the word "sweetie" (unless they're your grandmother/elderly aunt/whatever) is an asshole

I was a model for years and, let me tell you, there just isn't enough work for women in appearance-based industries without getting 'em out.

Oh yay, a whole thread of straight-girl misogyny. That's always fun.

Re: Put them away sweetie

(Anonymous) 2016-03-08 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm more concerned with getting certain actors (all male) to go nude. And stay nude.

But I do chafe at the times when nudity seems pushed just because BEWBS R KEWL. (I like boobs too!) I love Game of Thrones to death but even I roll my eyes at the nudity because it doesn't feel realistic or organic anymore. And many of the male cast members have said they'd go nude, including full frontal, and they haven't gone there. If they want to have nudity for shits and giggles, they should do it on an equal gender basis (And make sure it's equally attractive people too. No pushing old, tubby dude to be naked with the young, athletic-looking girls.)

Re: Put them away sweetie

(Anonymous) 2016-03-08 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
TBH, whenever I hear people rant about nudity equality or whatever, I'm like, "awww, poor straight girls." But man. Even I'll agree it's downright humorous how hard GoT worked to cram tits in there every chance they got.

I don't like how you phrased this, but I get where you're coming from and find I agree.

Re: Put them away sweetie

(Anonymous) 2016-03-08 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
I object to the way women's bodies are constantly used like props for titillating the audience, while men's bodies are only occasionally used that way. But this:

...has the potential to be a positive and classy role model for young women, but instead in every film she does it's tits and cunt and tits again.

Yeah, this is the worst kind of nonsense. A woman choosing to be seen nude is not inherently degrading or detrimental to her in any way. The same is, of course, true for men as well - though interestingly, it never seems to be the men's public and/or personal image people concern themselves about. I fucking wonder why.
