Marvel Thread

Still consumed by CA: CW and Stucky.

I'm already tired of seeing the CW stuff on Tumblr.

So about spiderman...

(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
How'd they get the rights for him? I thought there was a big fuss about Spiderman not being able to be an Avenger because they didn't have the rights, because they kept selling different superheroes to different studios or something. So, what's the deal?

Re: So about spiderman...

My understanding is that Sony, who owns Spiderman, was in deep financial trouble (with the email hacks and some bad movies, etc.). So, they made a deal with Marvel Studios. Sony still owns Spiderman but they will let Marvel use him in their movies if Marvel helps Sony make their next Spiderman movies. So, Sony still has final say on Spiderman and his appearances. They are paying for the Spiderman movies, and I'm sure they get a little something from the Marvel movies that have Spiderman in them. But Marvel's creative team is helping Sony's out. And, Sony can now use Marvel characters in the same way Marvel is using Spiderman (Marvel gets say and some money, etc.). It's pretty beneficial to both groups.

Re: So about spiderman...

I'd heard this was going to happen. Wasn't it after the Sony email leaks? Anyway, Sony decided to stop the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies at two, and reboot again with Marvel's cooperation. So Spidey would be in the MCU.

It's kind of a shame, because before that they were talking about building their own Spider-Man universe with characters like Black Cat, the Sinister Six, presumably the Prowler and so forth. That might have been more fun in a way.

It's spelled Spider-Man. Just... please spread the word. The unhyphenated version does two things: first, it claws at my eyes like an angry badger, and second, it establishes that you only know the character from movies. Movies for which you evidently never saw the poster.

This person noticed something about the trailer:

If it's true, holy shit.

This is honestly something I've been considering could happen for a while now, along with T'Challa making him a new vibranium arm at the end. But I'm not confident enough to think it's 100% atm it's just a theory.

Re: Marvel Thread - Spoilers?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard that theory. I like it because then the T'Challa vs Bucky thing will be resolved, which I'd like to see. But I do like his current arm. I'm very conflicted about it. But if Tony's the one who did it and then Cap beats the crap out of him for it - that sounds hot.

Yes! I'm so ready. I wish I was more in the Stucky fandom because I'd love to write some Stucky porny hurt/comfort. But I feel I need to be more into a fandom to know what the fandom wants in their porn. I have a pretty good grasp, for the most part, of my fandom and what they like and how it coincides with what I like to write.

Hmmmm. Identity porn is somewhat popular.

Meaning helping Bucky to remember who he is through porn? Not quite sure what that is. Don't think it is a thing in my fandom.

I'd say write it anyway. It seems really likely that if your style of porn isn't what's usually being written, then there's probably a thirst from people who've seen it all. Marvel is so huge that I'd wager you'd still get more feedback than your current Tolkien ships, even if you write a niche thing.

And you should always write what you love. There's always someone out there who will like it.

Stucky Recs?

I'm in the mood to read Stucky now.

What are you looking for? I am on mobile so can't just browse them easily. Long, short, pwp, story focused, angst, happy, etc.

Re: Stucky Recs?

(Anonymous) 2016-03-12 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Um, completed fics. Happy ending but it doesn't have to be an overall happy fic. Canon-related, probably set post Winter Soldier. Maybe something with a plot? But I'd be good with PWPs too. If you have favorites that don't fit this, I'd still be happy to read them.

Oh, and if there are any fics that were sparked from stuff in the trailers, I'd be curious to read those before they get jossed. But, I'm good with anything. I have a free weekend coming up. :)

I'm sorry if this qualifies as hijacking but while we're on the subject of fic recs...does anyone know of any good Steve/Bucky/Peggy or Tony/Rhodey/Pepper? I need something to cheer me up after two trailers of the members of my OT3s fighting/sad/possibly dying.

I could also use anything with T'Challa.

Re: Marvel Thread

My love for the MCU fandom is dying a slow death because of the overabundance of Stucky obsessives. I'm barely even excited for CW at this point. :(
