Re: Any Cosplayers?

Confidence? Accent?

Cosplaying is literally just wearing the costume, I don't think most people actually "role-play" while wearing the costume. The only time you might want to try to match the character's "confidence" would be in photos, assuming you want to take more serious character photos and not just fun silly convention photos.

Good luck!

This, the role-players are the vast minority and usually doing it as parts of group acts or for videos.

been cosplaying for 17 years, never roleplayed.

don't worry about confidence or accents. Just be you. Enjoy the costume, and when someone screams your character's name, smile. When someone asks for a photo, pose like the character poses in canon. The rest of the time, enjoy yourself. Have a snack, buy some shit in the dealer's room, take photos, play some games.

I personally find the confidence doesn't come too hard once your in it. After all, you aren't YOU anymore. You might have a different experience, but I reccomend losing yourself in it if you can go that route. After all, YOU are the one worried about confidence, not them. Kinda the same way halloween works. That said, worry less about being accurate and more about having fun.

Agreed! It's like how Halloween feels. You're not the only one in a costume, so even if you're shy, you get comfortable pretty quick. I definitely get a lot more confident once I'm in the costume, too.
