Except Kylo and Hux actually interact in canon. Clint and Coulson have one scene and barely a scene at that. Not really the same thing.

Anon may be referring to the fact that they're both really ugly white dudes and still an inexplicably popular ship.

Have you read any of the fic? It's really the same thing, except--somehow--even less based in canon.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. And that would be a matter of interpretation. Some of it is pretty far from canon, but some of it fits in well with the dynamic and characters in the movie.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
The bias is strong in this one.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Not really? Yes, there are lots of OOC stuff. I just don't think any more so than any other ship. Every ship has a lot of that stuff. That's just part of fandom. But there are lots of in-character things too.

I do tend to focus on the more explicit fics, so I don't know as much about the general fandom. But the balance in the porny fics between IC and OOC is pretty good. And I've read a few less explicit fics that were quite good.

Right? At least C/C fic had Clint based on the new comics, while Coulson was based on that one short. Kylux? Pfffft, what do you mean Kylo and/or Hux isn't a poor, frail, misunderstood woobie with a tragic backstory that justifies their insane Dark side leanings? I can count on one hand the number of fics that had hatesex or villains banging, and the most popular fic for the ship by far is that one fic by hollycomb where everyone cries all the time. There's no basis for any of it, hence why people call it the new C/C.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god, hollycomb writes for this ship? Guaranteed OOC trash that the fandom no doubt uses as headcanons to copy endlessly, to the point where canon characterization ceases to exist.

The interaction between Kylo and Hux is piddling though. You're really in no position to feel superior to Clint/Coulson shippers, you're just as shallow as them tbh. Perhaps more so since you're choosing the bland (and downright homely) white guy ship over the interracial one.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I also ship the interracial couples (both Finn/Poe and Finn/Rey). I just really like villain ship dynamics. And I still say there is more in canon to work with (particularly if you add in the novelization). With Clint and Coulson there was literally nothing to work with other than them knowing each other. People can ship what they want, and I don't judge anyone for what they ship, but you can't really say that these two ships have the same amount of canon to work with.

(Anonymous) 2016-03-13 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I really don't understand the kneejerk RACISM OMG RACISM over "Why are you shipping the villains with a completely different dynamic instead of the buddy heroes?" I mean you might as well accuse them of being racist for shipping Kirk/Spock instead of Zutara.

Especially when it comes up with Clint/Coulson because... there's like... six billion whiter than white attractive men in the MCU. You could go Steve Rogers/Thor if you really want to be sure there's as little skin/hair pigment as possible there.
