My all time favorite lyric is from Leonard Cohen's "Sisters of Mercy": oh you, who must leave everything that you cannot control. There's SO much characterization and history in those ten words, I'm floored every time.

Incidentally, that song also has if your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn, they will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem, which kills me.

Speaking of Leonard Cohen, he also wrote "Anthem," which contains my second-favorite lyrics: oh every heart to love will come, but like a refugee--ring the bells that still can ring; forget your perfect offering. there is a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in.

Everything off Vienna Teng's "Inland Territory" is genius and kills me. I'm particularly fond of this sudden burst of sunlight, and me with my umbrella, cross-indexing every weatherman's report! I was ready for the downslide, but not for spring to well up, this feeling calls for everything I can't afford to know is possible now. What do I do with a love that won't sit still? and she found him standing looking lost in the shadow of St. Stephen's cross.

Also, from the Mountain Goats: wake and rise and face the day and try to stop the day from staring back at me; busy hours for joyful hearts and maybe later head out to the pharmacy. Won't take the medication but it's good to have around, a kind and loving god won't let my small ship run aground!

I'm OBSESSED with the intelligence and emotion in the lyrics of Hamilton, and above all else, when Burr sings, in "Non-Stop," I'm taking my time watching the afterbirth of a nation. Like YOOOOO

......I'm babbling

The Mountain Goats have really fantastic lyrics. Have you ever listened to John Vanderslice? He did an EP with The Mountain Goats called Moon Colony Bloodbath that was excellent.

A Leonard Cohen lyric was *going* to be my first tattoo, but I didn't have the money. Then it was going to be my second, but.......tiny tattoos are just so cheap :P

SOON THOUGH!
