Brussels sprouts. Probably because my mother only ever cooked them by boiling them with no seasoning whatsoever, so they'd end up these...mushy weirdly sour awful things that I just figured I'd always hate them.

But now that I've had them broiled after being tossed with olive oil, salt, and a bit of smoked paprika...hnnnnngh. Deliciousness.

They're also excellent roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper and minced garlic. Most people don't seem to realize that brussels sprouts aren't meant to be cooked to death, otherwise they get all mushy and weird.
