I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you OP >< If it's bothering you, maybe talk to someone about it? Though if you are fine with it and just concerned that it's 'not something normal', I'd say to hell with that. It's pretty healthy to be attracted to other people even when you're already in a relationship anyway.

OP here. It's not that it's bothering me, but I do feel slightly silly about it. Especially when I look at how many secrets I've submitted during the past year and a half, all about the same character. I'm not even attracted to the person playing the character, it's just that one character I'm completely mad about. I know it's pretty normal, but still.

Honestly, same! I hardly know what it is about Vetinari that I adore so much, he's not like the characters who are usually my type at all. I just realised your secret said a year and a half too - it's been three years for me, haha. I do feel a bit silly about it sometimes, but my love for Vetinari has helped me at times, and it's something that never ceases to make me happy. Maybe it is weird, but I haven't let it take over my life, so I just don't really see it as a problem.

I don't know why but the first character I imagined this secret being about was Jesus and now I can't stop imagining someone making 500 secrets about writing Jesus/reader fic and how they hate when Jesus is the wrong role in a slash ship

Jesus is cool and all, but it's not about Jesus, sorry ;) And honestly it wasn't 500 secrets, more like a dozen or so all together.

Aaaand now I'm freaked out because this secret ended up being No.1 like most of my secrets that this secret is about were. Odd.

I totally get it. I've been really into or even crushing on various fictional characters at various points. With my current fave, I'd say it is less a crush and more a really intense physical attraction. But I get the obsession because I'm seriously obsessed.

Accept your destiny, OP. At least you had enough patience to write a long fic. I can't write anything long because a week after starting a fic I'll obsess about something else.

No, it's not Optimus. It's not a very well known character, really. That's why I tried not to specify the character when writing the secrets, since some folks got that it was the same person submitting the secrets and one called me a creepy stalker. Which is silly, since it's a fictional character and the person playing them is not even that interesting to me. But it still made me feel like a weirdo.

I've never written anything that long, I write short stories normally, so I've no idea how it turned into a 40k word monster of a self-insert fic.

I've had loads of fictional crushes before, and I always end up playing out the self-insert story in my mind (usually at bedtime, it always makes me feel less stressed out and helps me fall asleep). I've never written any of it, until I couldn't take it with this one anymore and just had to write it down.

I do something very similar, OP. Not all my secrets are about the same person but I've made multiple secrets that obliquely refer to that person. I know it drives some people crazy when the secret maker doesn't disclose the fandom/character, but like you, I don't want anyone to know it was me.

Yup, that's pretty much what I do, as well. I just have this awful need to make secrets about or sort of about the character. No idea why that is. Perhaps it's because this is the only place I can barge in and talk about it and know that at least someone will listen (major plus that no one has to know it's me). There are several people who always respond to these and we talk and they're always so nice and I just act like I've never talked to them before, which makes me feel like an asshat, but I'd be ashamed if they knew of all the secrets that I've made.

I sort of feel you. I keep making secrets how I hate this one ship or related to how much I hate how the fans act and then deleting them without submitting because I already did one and I'm not going to be creepy-obsessive, even if I'm not naming the ship.

Good call. The op does say that they've made secrets about the character without stating who the character is so it's possible there were more than half a dozen, just not blatantly obvious.

I don't see why someone would have such a big thing for Chris Addison or any of the characters he plays, though, but to each their own I guess.

My first thought was Ollie Reeder since there were quite a bit of secrets about him. Not my thing, but I'd totally get it if this was about him.

were all mine, some specifically about the character, two were about another character (played by the same person) that actually lead me to the main one and some were vague and non-specific but still related to the character in question. So...yeah. Now that I've gotten that off of my chest, I hope my 'addiction' to making these idiotic secrets will go away. I've no hopes to get over the character any time soon, though (not that I mind it very much, but still).
