Hahahah, you took the words right out of my mouth. My suspension of belief just cannot accomodate Reborn. And it's not like people think it's 100% normal. More like they're all retards and they're like, "Oh, Tsuna suddenly started moving faster! Nevermind the fact that I just heard a really loud gunshot!"

And hey, MGS actually has plot and some character development. It's also got that going for it over Reborn, too.

Hahahahahaha XD

I tried reading Reborn to see what all the fuss was about. I had to stop after my suspension of belief was stretched so thin it snapped around halfway through volume 2. It's fine to give people ridiculous powers. But give them a decent context to work in, too. Geez ~_~

AS MUCH AS I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES, I agree. xD It's crack & I just can't seem to understand WHY it's suddenly okay. I think the first seven volumes are actually what kept me from reading it even though my friends kept telling me to. I just. Couldn't stand it.

But for some reason, after all the ANGST & SRS BSNS started happening, I sorta miss the crack. Even if it's crack that never made any sense lakfjaf.

There's not a lot of angst unless you're reading for Gokudera AHHAHAHAlfkajf. That boy is like the emoboy of the entire series. But then again, when you get to TYL, Yamamoto kinda stops. D: Yeaaaaah. Yeah, don't read it. -DIES-

I think, with Reborn (mind you, I'm more up on anime canon than manga canon), it's that they realize something's not-quite-right when Tsuna goes into Dying Will Mode, it's that they don't get how it was possible, and they expect it from Tsuna, like he can control it on his own (chapter 2/episode 2 is a good show of this)

Not necessarily. The only time I remember Reborn shooting Tsuna at point blank range in the Daily Life Arc was the first time (and maybe in Gokudera's intro chapter, but because Gokudera is a mafioso, it's alright), and no one was around. So he's all in Dying Will Mode and it's all, "WTF was that shit?"

Reborn's usually hidden from sight and using a long range gun in the first parts. Actually, the way it's done in the anime makes more sense. The bullet splits halfway through the shot and it's a vapor that enters Tsuna. One could say, "Okay the fact it's colored is dramatic irony, so the viewers see it but no one else does."

Oh and yes, Nana Sawada is very naive, so take that with a grain of salt.

Ah... like I said, I'm following anime canon more than manga canon. (Though I have that issue, hmm I suprised I missed that.)

I guess I'm just better at suspending my disbelief. It happens because it has to happen to advance Tsuna's character, so...

This might explain why most of the RPers for the fandom are pretty terrible.

Okay, if you don't like a series, we get it, but why are you bothering to RP it? And how are you RPing it? I'm just curious. Because apparently, you haven't gotten up to the "serious business" aspect of it or anything.

Well, I'll be honest. Your writing style (everyone's in that post, actually) is beautiful, but there's no voice to it (specifically: yours). Even if he's TYL!Yamamoto, he doesn't have a feel to him that makes a connection between the past and the future (the Gokudera does a very good job in drawing the connection, of the ones in that post). He doesn't have a very distinct feel to him.

It's hard to play someone who has just a few lines, but you need to give enough to him to make him feel ... three-dimensional. He's TYL!Yamamoto, so it's a little harder to tell.

And since I know the "no voice" thing isn't going to sound clear—I meant more a voice that makes it feel like that character. It just seems very bland overall. Good writing, nice prose, but it falls flat. It's how a lot of good writers seem when they aren't as good with a character.

Well, all of the zany stuff happens outside of the crowd. They think it was weird but awesome at the same thing. But the battles happen outside of the public eyes. Hell, the only one who finds it odd is Shouichi Irie, who notices all the wackiness but no one believes him.

Meh, I had my suspension of belief widen more than that with Bleach.

Piggybacking on this comment, I was just gonna point out that most of the do-rama going on in the current arc is Irie's fault, and I believe that one part of the plot has something to do with Irie's inability to suspend his disbelief and accept that what is happening is normal. After some contemplation on this part, I think that he's taken a practical mindset with the power of the Vongola rings. Because the Dying Will flame is obviously a new, untapped natural resource, he's willing to accept that it can be used to his advantage, but he can't accept that this is some supernatural batshit wtf-iness. He has to bring it down to his own level so his mind can process it, instead of letting the crack be what it wants to be...

[/tl;dr over-examination of crack manga prz to be moving on]

Okay, see, I could buy that. If they actually acknowledged it was weird.

The best example I can think of is Ocelot. Ocelot has probably been through the weirdest shit out of anyone in all the games. He is the child of a psychic and was on a team with a man whose super power was control of bees. Then he goes off to party in Shadow Moses, accompanied by a man who can change his appearance completely and a psychic freak who breaks the fourth wall like it was going out of style. His arm is chopped off by a robot ninja. Then he recruits a bisexual vampire with the power to run on water. Then, his arm is possessed by an evil clone. And then, in his climactic "lol just kidding" with Fortune, he utters this gem:

There is no such thing as miracles or the super-natural, only cutting-edge technology.

I mean, seriously. SERIOUSLY. And right after that you have the 30 minute codec conversation of wtfery and, okay, it's a fun series and is fucking hilarious, but a deep plot? lol no
