jesus christ I am so tired of doctors who don't even consider thyroid despite how prevalent it is. but so glad your doc went for it! good on her!

I've suffered with hypothyroidism for 20+ years, it's manageable but you gotta keep a good eye on it. and so very individual, so keep an eye on how your actual TSH numbers correspond to your symptoms, and don't let any doctor talk you into easing off your meds because your tests are in what is being called "normal" this month. Your symptoms don't lie, so if you find yourself sliding back to feeling like you're not even on the medication, absolutely insist on more tests and knowing the numbers.

The funny thing is, something like 5 or 6 years ago I got my thyroid levels tested. My then doctor said my levels were on the low side of normal, but not enough to make him want to prescribe me anything.

This doctor said, though, that now even with low but normal levels they sometimes medicate.

well, good, that's a good change. I used to have to fight to get even the slightest change made to my prescription. I'm concerned at how awful your numbers had to actually be for the other doctor to go meds, now!, but at least that means you've got a solution. One solution!

well, I'm glad to hear that. Because you used to have to be super low for them to do anything about it at all. Thyroid problems also run in my family and my mother is allergic to iodine to boot.

Thyriod, parathyroid and your adrenal glands are all connected (and the adrenal glands are connected to a bunch more glands too) so you can't really treat one without treating the others.

the body is a topsy turvy crazy place when it comes to hormones.
