Let me tell you a secret: women aren't required to wear cute clothes or makeup.

You can wear comfy clothes and no makeup and as long you take showers and brush your hair you're offering a presentable image.

They...never said they were a woman. Bit sexist for you to think that.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
...You're right. Sorry man, this is a sensitive topic for me.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it's the sad fact of life that cute clothes aren't made for guys ever.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the whole emo/skinny jeans groups prove otherwise.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Makeup. Men don't wear makeup.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Very few, statistically speaking.

The hot ones do.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sexist, really. Cute clothes and makeup reads as very feminine.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
...did they say otherwise?

I mean, it's obviously true that women can wear what they want. But I'm pretty sure the secret is suggesting the opposite - that in a situation where they could absolutely get away with wearing "comfy" clothes and no makeup (because the fashion stick isn't typically very high, or at least, stereotypically, at geek spaces) OP wants to put more effort into their appearance.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
OP is implying that cute clothes, makeup, hair and others are required for a presentable image. No cute clothes, makeup, hair and others =/= presentable image.

NAYRT

OP implied that THEY feel for THEM that presentable = cute (to them) clothes, makeup, and taking time with their hair.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-12 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I disagree that simply "comfy clothes" alone and showering constitutes what would typically be called a "presentable image". I don't think they have to be cute clothes, nor do you have to wear makeup, but most people would not call someone wearing old sweatpants and a baggy oversized anime T-shirt "presentable".

Given the number of people wearing their pajamas in public, hearing that someone is making an effort to look nice, especially given how expensive cons are these days is encouraging.
