I will say, just my own experience, I see a whole lot of people seem to be a lot harsher on her than other famous people.

There's lots of rich famous people with really shitty morals and who've done terrible things and who've never shown any indication that they're not transphobic as hell. But I'm much less likely to hear someone say something like, oh, James Earl Jones hasn't ever done anything for transgender rights and he's a registered Republican. (Just grabbing a name randomly, as far as I know he's very nice and does not hate trans people) but I DO see random "Reminder, I'm Not Transphobic But, Jenner is a horrible human being! <3 <3 <3" facebook posts.

The reason Caitlyn Jenner gets shit is because she's making money off of the back of the transgender movement, so republican or not, she's going to be scrutinized for what she does.

There's definitely been a lot of gross transphobia thrown her way, but there are also a lot of valid complaints about her. People are allowed to not like her as a person and disagree with her beliefs, just because she is transgender it does not mean she is above criticism.

And I do think people give her too much attention, but I wouldn't say they are any harsher with her then any other celeb. There was actually a lot of positive support in the communities I'm in when she first came out, but then things kind of settled down and people remembered that she was never really a gem of a human being.

The biggest thing, to me, is I've seen a lot of her being used as the idea that trans people need to 'earn' the use of proper pronouns.

I had to unfriend a lot of people over "I'll call GOOD trans people him or her or whatever they want, but BRUCE Jenner is terrible and HE hasn't earned the right to get my respect. If HE becomes a better person, then HE gets to be called she"

And oh fuck no. You don't have to earn your pronouns. That's not a mark of respect, that's a mark of not being a douchebag. It's a subtle blackmail that as long as you're a "good" trans person you get to be "rewarded" with not being misgendered.
