Seconding. It was never safe. Years before "cyberbullying" was even talked about, a forum troll threatened to rape my sister. He was mad at me and just trying to get me to shut up (we were arguing), but man, I thank God it was near impossible to figure out who I am.

The thing is that this was a hypothetical sister, as the troll also couldn't read apparently. But yeah, I still should've screencapped it and reported it to be police. O_o

Sadly I wouldn't be surprised if he went on to become a gamergater. He fit the profile perfectly.

AYRT - I honestly hope by now they've received help. I mean, you can't be right in the head if you make flippant rape threats, even if he did misunderstand my point and wasn't being serious anyway.

In a way, I was "lucky" to have been harassed very early on. Well, actually, hacked and harassed, but I learned damn quickly to zip my lip about my location and most personal details in a general setting.

Honestly, I don't know that he meant to hurt anyone. In the off chance he's here I'd rather not elaborate but in the context of the fight, I'm pretty sure he was just trying to wig me out by being a supreme asshole.

These people who write rape threats on the net are sick individuals. Out of interest, I once had a friend look up the law (we're in Australia) in regards to issuing threats on the internet and I was relieved to read that there are some laws here in which people are held accountable for such vile abuse.I don't care for their supposed 'reason'. The real reason is to intimidate another human being... and to win an argument?
