I am always shocked by how much internet personas have changed in such a short amount of time. Back in my day (ten years ago), you would NEVER post your name, picture, location, etc. That was drilled into our heads. "NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!!"

But these days, everyone posts with their real names. They talk about where the live. It is crazy. I know it is probably mostly due to Facebook, but still. Crazy.

Yeah I agree, I remember someone putting up their address on Tumblr and they got a free pizza and it just floored me like that could have gone wrong is so many ways.

It weirds me out that so many people post their personal information online. I don't even feel comfortable having my full name on Facebook. I never would've dreamed of sharing personal info when I first started going online and I was horrified that my godchild had posted her personal phone number on her public Instagram profile. I asked her why and she said so she could get texts from her "fans". It took me a really long time to explain why this was a bad idea.

See, I don't mind it on FB because I have it locked down. But (for instance) my Spotify is tied to my FB so I don't share my playlists (that I want to) because then people would know my name. :(

Kids these days!

I dislike Facebook's rule about real names. Luckily my account has never drawn notice for the fact that it isn't my RL name on it.
