Movies you've watched knowing they are bad

[personal profile] philstar22 2016-04-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you ever gone to see a movie, knowing from the reviews or word of mouth that it was going to be bad. But you went to see it anyway?

The reviews for the Huntsman movie are just so bad. But I still want to see it. Because of Hemsworth mostly. But also Blunt and Theron. And because I love fantasy. I know it is going to be bad, but I still can't resist.

I've gone to see movies people said would be bad but never to ones I didn't think I would enjoy. Right or wrong.

A lot of movies for actors I like.

I watched Doom for Karl Urban and sort of fell in love with the piece of shit.

I can't think of any recently that I have watched.

Twilight (all of them) My fried's bf is into them, and then 3 of us went with him mostly for the lulz.

I saw the first with a friend and I don't think we were supposed to laugh as much as we did.

Same. I mean, we enjoyed the experience. Just maybe not for the reasons the fangirls did.

I saw the first one with my roommate, who came out of it going "see, it wasn't that bad. What'd you think?" And I was just kind of boggled and said "it made me miss redwoods," which was true. The only parts of it I liked were the trees.

I went to see the first Huntsman movie despite everyone telling me it was awful, I just wanted to see Hemsworth and Theorn in pretty clothing. I'll wait for it to be on TV for this one though.

There was a really terrible movie called Dragon Wars or something that a friend told me was terrible, and it was, but it has a really, really nicely animated Chinese dragon in it.

And probably many other movies that I can't remember.

They are very pretty in that movie. And it's not that awful..just sort of forgettable.

I went to see The Last Witch Hunter in the theatre and I regret nothing. It's not a great film, but the acting is much better than it deserves and the world building is fucking tops.

I've seen way too many movies that the critics hated but I ended up enjoying.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters was a highly entertaining movie and I would definitely watch that again.

I actually enjoyed the first Hunstman movie when you take Kristen Stewart out of it, so maybe this one won't be THAT bad?

I saw The Giver, mainly out of curiosity because I didn't think it would be that bad. I was wrong.

I saw Snakes On A Plane in theaters. On opening night.

(It was totally awesome though. The crowd was so into it, it was like being at a basketball game.)

I did too. And honestly? I had a blast. The crowd made it.

Like... 80% of everything on the shitstream.

But then, I also like to watch movies because they're going to be bad.

This is me. I buy bad werewolf movies on purpose because I write werewolf fiction and I figure "if someone got paid for that piece of crap, well, I should get paid for my stuff too, because it is not crap." "Werewolf in a Girl's Dormitory," anyone? So awful, and yet, not for any of the reasons you'd expect.

San Andreas. That movie was so self-aware.

Also National Treasure and its sequel.

But wasn't it so good?! In its own way? I really wished it had been more of a miniseries or a tv show. It could have used far more development (characters & plot)

Fifty Shades of Grey.

Don't ask.

+1

I was ready to laugh my ass off, but instead I actually liked how the director tried to drive it home how not okay Christian's treatment of Ana was.

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I was incredibly sad when I realized I wanted more movies. And despite saying I wanted to watch the show, I just want to see the same people playing the same parts.

I saw Snow White and The Huntsman and really enjoyed it despite being bland. I mean, I really liked the idea but still think Snow White a Tale of Terror presented the idea better. Still enjoyed it because, well, Hemsworth.

The Underworld trilogy. Holy shit one of my friend's and I are huge fans of this.

Piranha 3dd and David Hasselhoff as ""bay-watch"" again. The whole movie is pretty meta about the Piranha movies.

And so so many bad horror movies (including Scary Movies).

But to answer your question, yes. And I loved every second of it, so as long as you enjoy yourself .

Fifty Shades of Grey. I find it entertaining and light.
