And what, no awareness or understanding for anyone with a BPD diagnosis?

No public campaigns for more resources and support so that people with BPD have services readily accessible to them?

We should all just perpetuate the horrible stigma attached to the diagnosis because surely this fuckery will encourage people to seek help and continue to pursue treatment?

Nope. Don't see the logic.

The three people I've known with BPD became even more abusive when their victims told them that what they were doing is awful. So maybe I see the logic because my experience with BPD is "this is a disorder only abusive, toxic people have."

From the ICD-10: liability to outbursts of anger or violence, with inability to control the resulting behavioral explosions;

Attacking people because you can't control yourself is one of the symptoms in the diagnostic criteria.

Thank you. This is what so many in this thread bitching at OP don't get. Read the diagnostic criteria for BPD. It's a checklist of abusive, toxic behavior (as with all Cluster Bs).

It kind of sounds like you only got to know about their BPD because they were abusive dicks? I am by no means saying an entire group of people are without fault. There are assholes in every group of people. I can't think of any group that is exempt from this. I'm saying that your experiences may be narrowing your perspective.

You probably pass people who have BPD on the street all the time. You might work with them and not even know it.

BPD awareness is really about seeing the whole picture and it doesn't make domestic violence awareness matter less. Actually, I think if anything, if you're open to it, BPD awareness could make you feel less instinctual hatred towards all BPD sufferers.

Abusive behavior is literally most of the diagnostic criteria for BPD. It's not a matter of there being assholes in every group. In the case of BPD, being an asshole is a requirement for being part of the group.
