Matthew Gray Gubler is pretty much the most beautiful person in the world, to me. He qualifies as androgynous, right? Especially when he's clean shaven, I think.

I'll second this choice. He's not called a "pretty boy" for nothing!

I would not equate "pretty boy" with androgynous, though actually I also would not call the above person either, myself. He looks pretty much clean-cut masculine to me

Well fair enough, I guess. But if your definition of androgynous is "People who could literally be mistaken for the opposite gender by a less discerning eye," then that narrows the pool of valid choices significantly. That's not really how I define androgynous, myself. I'm a little more flexible with how I apply the term.

And I mean, would you argue that Ruby Rose isn't androgynous? Because she's very clearly biologically female, yet she is also pretty quintessentially what I think of when I think of androgynous people.

However, if one wants to talk about extremely gender/sex-ambiguous people who are awesome, then my answer can be Chris Pureka. Their music if fucking incredible and I recommend it like woah.

The term "androgynous" makes me at first think of someone who could be mistaken for either gender, though if I think about it I suppose I'd apply it to anyone who had conventional characteristics of both.

I had to Google Ruby Rose and she looks pretty androgynous to me? I'm not sure where that follows from the statement I made about the guy above. I mean, when I say "clean-cut masculine" I don't mean "is clearly a man", I mean "exhibits physical traits I would attribute to men and none that I would attribute to women". He just looks like a typical white man magazine cover guy to me; nothing about him makes me think of femininity at all. Ruby Rose, though, definitely looks very androgynous to me.

This is where we differ. Gubler looks about as far towards "female" to me as Ruby Rose looks towards "male." We clearly have different visible markers for what masculinity looks like.

Huh, yeah, I guess. Very different perspectives.

What about Cillian Murphy and Troye Sivan, as two other examples people gave in this thread. Do you see them as fairly typical white males, or do you see them as androgynous?

Just curious. I see them both as good examples of androgynous men.

Yeah, I can see it a little with the first one and a lot with the second. I think he's a pretty good example.

(Sorry if that was what an anon linked me earlier, I know there was a link I couldn't open bc I was at work when I saw it)

The photo above was. Unfortunately I can't see the one you linked right now because apparently my work blocks Photobucket :|
